Machines for the application of lippings to workpiece edges, where are the edge aterial already has a pre-coated bottom side. The glue will be reactivated on the edgebander through heat. Machines of this type were common in the industry while the technology of edgebanding ivolved. Edgebanders with high-capacity glue aggregates have taken there place, so that since the mid- 1980s such machines for pre-coated edge material have only been built for small workshops.

Advantages and disadvantages of pre-coated edge material

Advantages

• The risk of the contermination of the workpiece through the glue is very low
• The maintenance of the glue system on the Edgebander is not needed
• The change of the colour can be done quickly and easily
• The price for such machines without gluing aggregate is much cheaper

Disadvantages

• Bigger pores of the workpiece edge remain unfilled, so the glue does not perform as well as with a gluing system
• Application of PUR glue is not possible
• Pre-coated edge material cannot be stored for a long time, because the ability to reactivate the glue sinks with increasing storage time
• Not applicable for thick edges, which are especially suited for highly claimed workpiece edges
