Finding the right machine

The range of machine technology is wide. To make the right choice, you should ask yourself the following questions:

What are my biggest and smallest workpieces?

Wide belt sanders are available in different widths between 650 and 2200 mm. The most common are 1100 and 1350 mm working width. The maximum infeed height is between 150 and 200 mm depending on the model.

How large is the proportion of moulded surfaces?

Workpieces with a flat surface can be sanded on wide belt or narrow Belt Sanding Machine (workpiece width up to about 300 mm). If workpieces with a moulded surface have to be sanded again and again, the wide belt sanding machine can be equipped with disc brush unit. If only moulded workpieces are to be sanded, a denibbing sander for surfaces is the right choice.

Which surface quality is required?

• "even" if I for example, am a timber trading company which is selling raw materials
• "fine" because I oil or have an extra machine for lacquer sanding or because I laminate MDF-parts after sanding
• "finest" for lacquer sanding, "superfine" for high gloss surfaces

The surface quality is determined by the type of sanding aggregate and additional equipment. At almost all manufacturers the wide belt sanding machines are built in a modular system. The desired aggregates can be arranged in any order. Typical sanding tasks are listed below and the units with which they can be solved.
