Short description

CNC-machining centre from the company HOMAG, which was available with 1or 2 aggregates supports. Simultaneously with the HOMAG BAZ 20, HOMAG also launched a heavy CNC router in the late 1980s, which was based on the same machine corpus.

Equipment

Initially, it was a machine with a cantilever uncoupled from the machine table, onto which the aggregates were fixedly mounted. The movement in Y was performed by the cantilever itself. Since the BOF 20 had no edgebanding aggregate, more places for mounting milling, drilling and sawing aggregates were available.

In 1993, the construction was changed to a cantilever which was firmly attached to the machine table. The movement of the Y-axis was realized by an aggregates support, which moved along the cantilever. This version was much less space consuming.

There was the option of working with separate Y-axes on both sides of the cantilever. Since the BOF 20 had no edgebanding aggregate, two independent aggregates supports could be used. With the change of the machine´s construction, it could also be equipped with a disc tool changer or a chain changer; the number of available tool changing positions has been expanded continuously. Thus, for example in 2001, it was possible to retrieve up to 70 tools from the ride-along tool changers. The machine could be equipped with different drilling units. In 1998, they introduced the possibilty to offer edgebanding aggregates exchangeable by an aggregate interface, also for the BOF series.

Table versions

Initially, only a pod and rail table and a smooth table were available for the BOF 20. This was expanded continuously over time.

In 2000, the BOF 20 could be quipped with a smooth table, a smooth aluminum table for tubeless positioning of vacuum cups (HOMAG GA table), a pod and rail table (HOMAG K-table) as well as the standard matrix table (HOMAG MATRIX-table). In addition, automated tables like the KA table (later AutoClamp-table or AP System table) could be used. Furthermore, the BOF 20 could be equipped with a through-feed device. Together with the BAZ 20, the machine was the most flexible configurable CNC machining center from HOMAG.

Special features

Many customer-specific solutions were implemented. Even in the series that were offered as standard, one could choose from 12 different working ranges. In 2003, the HOMAG group changed its model policy and the production of the model BOF 20 was discontinued. Successor machines were the models of the BOF 300 series and the BOF 200 series.
