HOMAG BOF 500

Záznam uvidíte za

Series of CNC-machining centres in moving gantry construction, which are equipped with Homag Shuttle System machine tables.

History:

With the model BHP 520 Weeke initially introduced a machine with shuttle system in about 2003.

In 2006 the successor was produced by Homag under the name BOF511 as nearly identical machine, while Weeke concentrated on the moving gantry technique of the BHP series as well as on the Vantage series. Homag extended the range of models by different configurations and table sizes. The shuttle system was taken over without any changes.

Since about 2011 this machine is not offered anymore.

Construction:

The BOF500 series is a moving gantry machine with 2 tables. The aggregates support moves along the portal and thus generates the movement of the x-axis, while the y-axis is realized by the movement of the portal.

In contrast to most machines with 2 tables the portal is not located longitudinally across the adjacent tables. It is arranged transversely across one table, while the other one is located outside the enclosed area. Due to the shuttle system both tables are able to move above the other and thus always one table is in processing process, while the other can be loaded and unloaded.

Because of its purpose mainly designed for the nesting process, the machines are mostly equipped with an O-TRIX-table.

  • Advantages of the machine's concept:
  • In comparison to other machines with 2 tables there is required significantly less space
  • High speed of axes possible
  • The table located outside of the machine is reachable from three sides
  • Disadvantages:
  • Only suitable for flat machine tables (use of only one pod and rail table is not possible)
  • No fixed joint between machine frame and machine table
  • No tightly installed vacuum, joint from table via clutch to the infeed of the machine

Equipment and model versions

  • Homag offered the machine with 1 - 4 aggregate supports, on each side of the portal it was possible to install 2 aggregates supports.
  • It is not known, if any possible model version actually was produced. The most common variant is the model 511, followed by the model 512.
  • Possible variants:
  • BOF511: 1 aggregates support at the backside, most common variant
  • BOF512: 2 aggregates support at the backside
  • BOF522: 1 aggregates support at the front, 1 at the backside
  • BOF523: 2 aggregates supports at the backside, 1 at the front
  • BOF524: 2 aggregates supports at the backside, 2 at the front
  • For the equipping of the aggregates support there were available milling spindles with or without c-axis, horizontal milling aggregates in x and y direction, different boring blocks with or without saw aggregate as well as special aggregates, for example tracing of workpieces.
  • The aggregates supports on the backside could each be equipped with a movable disc tool changer as well as right and left at the portal each with a fixed disc tool changer with overall 56 tools.
  • Offered table sizes:
  • 3000 x 1600
  • 3700 x 1600
  • 3700 x 2100
  • 5600 x 2100
