Interpolating axisTerm used in CNC technology. With interpolating axes, the control calculates a defined tool path, which is achieved by controlling and calculating the moving speed of each axis on the base of programmed coordinates. Prerequisite for interpolating axes are measurement systems, which provide actual values in real time, which are then permanently compared to the pre-set values by a control. Without interpolating axes, only rectangular shapes could be cut. For cutting any contour in X/Y, at least 2 interpolating axes are needed, and at least 3 for milling bodies. For milling bodies with (almost) any shape, 5 Axes are necessary. See also |
