S-282 (smaller version of the S-482) receives award at the IMF trade fair.

1970s

Development of the QUIETCUT planing cylinder (also excellent, even today industrial standard, is built in all machines of Newman - Whitney; is patented)

1960s

Development of the Newman S-series. Clearly shows the combined technologies by Newman and Whitney.

1955

Newman Machine Company and Baxter D. Whitney & Son, Inc. merge. Whitney produces from now on all machines at Newman's in Greensboro, North Carolina.

1906

Establishment of the Newman Machine Co., Inc. as a manufacturer of planing machines and routers.

1837

Establishment of Baxter D. Whitney & Son, Inc. as a manufacturer of cylinder planing machines.
