Fagus-GreCon Greten GmbH & Co. KG
German manufacturer of shoe lasts, fire protection and measuring systems, and until 1999, as well of finger jointing lines. The company is located in Alfeld near Hanover.
The business sector Fagus is a leader in the manufacturing and development of shoe last machines. The business sector GreCon is market leader in the manufacturing and development of measurement technology and fire protection systems for applications in many industries, including the wood-based panel industry. The former business sector GreCon Dimter is leading in the field of manufacturing finger jointing lines and since 1998, it is a member of the Weinig AG.

History
2011 | The factory, which started its production 100 years ago, was the only German object in 2011 which was voted Unesco World Cultural Heritage. The celebrations for the centennially anniversary of Fagus took place from the 9th to the 11th of September 2011. |
2009 | Delivery of the first high-precision balance HPS. |
2007-2010 | Joint venture with the company Top-Form. With the company Fagus-Top-Form Thailand, a production facility for shoe lasts is opened in Thailand. The GreCon measurement program is extended by the HPS and the CS scale. All other measurement systems are revised in the generation 5000. |
2005 | Installation of the first X-ray scanner Dieffensor for foreign body detection in the chip mat. |
2004 | Beginning of the restoration of the building complex. |
2002 | Production of high-precision milling capacity for the fully automatic shoe manufacturing. |
2000-2001 | Fagus-GreCon became external project of the Expo 2000 in Hanover as an exhibition on architecture, Bauhaus, footwear and wood. |
1998-1999 | Joint venture with GreCon Dimter Holzoptimierung Nord GmbH & Co.KG, a company of Weinig International AG. |
1987 | Development of a scanner to automatically detect faults in solid wood. |
1982 | Restoration of the historic shoe last factory. |
1974-1976 | Development of the first basis weight gauge, the first thickness gauge measurement systems and the first industrial spark-extinguishing system. |
1973 | Founding of the GreCon-Electronics. |
1974 | Gerd and Ernst Greten take over the management of Fagus-GreCon. |
1970 | Founding of the Greten Consulting (GreCon) by the brothers Gerd and Ernst Greten, great grandsons of Carl Benscheidt. |
1947 | The Fagus factory, built by Walter Gropius, becomes a listed building. |
1925 | Construction of the first Fagus shoe-last-lathe and the beginning of the construction of woodworking machines. |
1911 | Founding of the company 'Fagus' by Carl Benscheidt, who hired the then still unknown, but later co-founder modern architecture, Walter Gropius, to build a shoe last factory. This was Gropius's first important architectural work. |
