HOMAG EASYEDGEEdgebanding aggregateExchangeable aggregate for edgebanding on CNC-machining centres, which was introduced by HOMAG in 2005. In the mid-1990s, HOMAG presented the processing centre Genius B 30, which had an interchangeable edge banding aggregate. This was designed as a low-cost alternative to the previous processing centres with a permanently installed edge banding unit and second Y-axis. Shortly afterwards, another interchangeable unit was introduced, so that by the end of the 1990s two different types were available: Around 2005, HOMAG introduced new designations:
The four-sided unit or easyEdge underwent several changes over the course of time, e.g. adhesive cartridges were used in variant 1, and there is also a variant for pre-coated edges only. From about 2009 onwards, the unit also known as "easyEdge 2" was produced. In this further development, various functions were shifted to the parking station. This meant that for the first time the unit could do without the electronic and pneumatic supply of the extended HOMAG unit interface. This meant that for the first time an edge banding unit was available that could be used on all newer Homag processing centres with interpolatingC-axis. Some variants of the easyEdge unit, including the easyEdge2, do not have their own glue heating. This is located in the parking station, so downtimes are always required for heating the hotmelt. In the simplest version, the easyEdge unit only processes cut-to-size strips; in an expansion stage, it can already cut to length and process edge material from the roll. With easyEdge it is not possible to process joint edges - e.g. with round panels. However, it is possible to glue them on and finish them with a manual cross-cut unit offered separately.
