Sanding rollers

Sanding rollers are components of sanding belt aggregates on wide belt sanders, narrow belt sanding machines and linear copy shapers.

As an abrasive a sanding belt is used, which moves around the sanding roller and a pulley. The sanding roller generates the sanding pressure by pushing the sanding belt against the workpiece.

Depending on what material shall be sanded or which result shall be achieved, rubber rollers or steel rollers are used.

Trend

In the past rubberized sanding rollers were ubiquodous in wide belt sanders. Especially in the South European region machines have been equipped with several hard rubber rollers. Thus with cheap machine equipment different materials such as calibration, fine sanding and sanding between the lacquer application. With descending strength of veneer blades and lacquer layers the danger of throughlooping rises. After the introduction of cost-effective segment sanding pads, fine and lachquer sanding have been executed more often as well. Thus manufacturers such as HEESEMANN und BÜTFERING continue to offer serially their sanding rollers and combination units with steel rollers.

Application-controlled sanding roller

In order to avoid the throughlooping of the workpiece edges there were some manufacturers who offered an jump-in control for their sanding rollers.
