IMA BIMA QUADROFLEX

Short description

CNC-machining centre with edgebanding aggregate, which was introduced on the market by IMA in the 1990s, as an entry-level model in this technology.

Based on the term Quadro, which IMA used specifically for manufacturing systems, particulary for small and medium-sized companies, IMA introduced the machining center BIMA QuadroFlex, based on the already existing BIMA Quadroform, on the market in 1993. It was intended to be an affordable addition to the larger and more expensive IMA BIMA models with edgebanding aggregate.

Equipment

At launch, the model was offered with a working range of 3.000 x 1.000 mm, whereas the length could be extended in steps of 1.000 mm. As standard, the aggregates support was equipped with one router head, with HSK-38 tool interface (developed by IMA on the basis of the HSK-F63 interface, which could access a ride-along pickup tool changer with 8 exchange positions, mounted on the aggregates support). The working spindle was equipped with a C-axis in the basic equipment. In addition, the machine had a drilling block with 14 vertical drills. The edgebanding aggregate was initially optional.

Significant changes

In 1996, the cantilever was completely redesigned. The tool changer was extended to 12 positions and located in the rear part of the machine, traveling in X. The machine was now equipped with the programming system IMAWOP. Since for many applications, a working range of Y 1.000 mm was too small, an enlarged version - BIMA QuadroFlex 120 - was introduced, with 1.200 mm in Y and a working range extendable in X by steps of 1.000 mm.

The production of the BIMA QuadroFlex was discontinued in 2000.
