It is a laser-based safety device, which was introduced by Homag in 2006.

The safeScan system consists of two stages:

• Laser-based monitoring of the machine environment: A defined area around the aggregates support is permanently scanned. If an object or person comes close to this area, the feed of all axes is automatically reduced.
• Contact sensor: If there is any contact with the safety housing of the aggregates support, there will be an immediate stop of the machine.

The safeScan system was first used on the newly developed machines of the BMG series.
