DMC PLANETARIO Planetary head

Aggregate in wide belt sanders of the Italian manufacturer DMC, further development of the DMC Rotosand sanding aggregat.

Construction and mode of action

This aggregate consists of several rotating discs in which each 4 rotating sanding brushes are mounted. The combination of disc and brushes is called planetarium head. The speed of the brushes can be regulated independently of the speed of the discs because they are driven by separate motors which have their own frequency converters. The secret of the smooth polish depends on a low speed of the brushes and a very high speed of the discs, as the manufacturer says. Das ganze aggregate oszilliert quer zur Vorschubrichtung auf prism guides. The whole unit oscillates transversely to the workpiece direction on prismatic guides.

The power of the motors is transmissioned on the planetarium heads via strapless gear in oil bath. The sanding pressure and the working height are set by linear drives.

Applications

  • Frame sanding: Planetario leaves no sanding marks when sanding across the grain
  • Lengthwise sanding: Higher surface finish quality than with the conventional lengthwise sanding aggregates.
  • fine sanding, lacquer sanding: Optimal shearing of wood fibres before the first painting resp. after the first painting; opening of the pores of the wood.
  • Structuring sanding: possible in all directions, e.g. structuring of frames
  • Sanding of melamine resin coatings
  • Roughening of structured melamine resin coatings
  • Fine sanding of MDF boards which are destined for the application with high gloss foils.
  • Fine sanding of painted panels in preparation for the application of high gloss coatings.

The combination of Planetario aggregate with other types of sanding aggregates is possible.

Characteristics of the abrasive image
