Thickness Planer

Standard joinery machine for the production of smooth surfaces on beams and boards. After the workpiece bottom has been prepared on the surface planer, the opposite side is here parallel processed to its final dimensions.

Construction and mode of operation

A beam or board is fed into the planing machine on the infeed side. It is taken over by a toothed infeed roller and fed through the planer shaft with a constant feed rate. A pressure beam (segmented pressure bar) is located in front of and after the planer shaft to press down the workpiece during planing to improve the quality of the surface. A multi-segment anti-kickback safety prevents that the beam or board is thrown out. In the unloading area, driven rollers (often rubberized) are installed, which push the workpiece out of the planer. The thickness of the finished workpiece can be regulated by manually or electro-motorically adjusting the height of the table.

Options

  • Table sliding rollers or table rollers (for wet or resin-rich wood)
  • Pressure beam as segmented pressure bar in connection with the infeed roller as segmented infeed roller for the parallel processing of workpieces with different thicknesses
  • Lengthwise table extension in the unloading area for long workpieces
