Spikes

Spikes are small metal tips, which press into the surface of the wood 1 or 2 mm deep and thus, fix the workpiece during processing. This ensures an absolutely parallel workpiece transport and exact cutting. For curved, bent or short wood pieces, the spikes are very helpful in order to generate cuts that are "glue suitable". They can be used in different areas of woodworking:

  • In lengthwise dividing on multiblade saws
  • One of the advantages are the exchangeable chain segments, which are equipped with spikes (spiked ledge, bolted on the chain segments).
  • In the sector of parquet production for increasing dimensional correctness
  • The parquet workpieces, often made of hard wood, have to be guided through the woodworking machine as precisely as possible when being profiled on all sides to reach a high dimensional correctness. Therefore, for example, pressure elements with rubber coatings are used on the good side of the workpiece and chain plates with spikes on the workpiece backside.
