The workpiece feed via a so-called needle chain is considered to be very precise, robust and also guarantees a safe transport of warped, icy or otherwise problematic woods. The feedrates are relatively low; it is a technically complex solution.

In the field of solid wood cutting but also in the production of parquet, chains with spikes are used as feed system. Workpieces fixed in this way and guided reliably and exactly in a straight line despite the cutting forces involved promise extremely low production tolerances.
