Depending on the application range saw blades that either run vertically or horizontally are preferred. Resaws with horizontally running blades are mostly lying machines (horizontal systems), which are often automatically loaded by rollers or conveyor belts. The advantage of these machines is the possibility to process wider workpieces without the intervention of an operator.

They are particularly used in industry and in the sector of raw wood processing.
