SCHUGOMA Hot-Air-System

Hot-air process presented by the manufacturer Schugoma at the LIGNA in 2011 for processing laser edges (coextruded edges) to produce an optical zero joint.

Initially called "Hot-Air-Injection", the proceeding was only available in a mobile version (Kantenking ('edge king') KHD). Later is was also used on stationary edgebanders. According to Schugoma, every edgebanding machine can additionally be equipped with the activating unit HDL.

Technical method

  • Activation of the functional layer using hot compressed air (approx. 600 °C)
  • Heated compressed air blows a few centimetres in front of the pressure zone from a slot nozzle directly onto the back of the zero joint edge.
