In edge banding with laser technology, also called edge band welding, the functional layer of the edge band is melted by means of laser radiation. When the edgeband material is pressed in the pressure zone, the melted functional layer penetrates the workpiece surface and forms a closed connection between the workpiece and edgeband when it cools down. No visible joint remains between the workpiece and edgeband material.
