SPS

Shortened form for "programmable logic controller". A PLC is a device for the control and regulation of a machine.

The list of the tasks which need to be processed is stored as a program in the PLC. The program determines at which input signal (transmitted from sensors, for example a temperature sensor or a photodiode) which output signal (transmitted to actuators, for example a valve or a contactor) is generated.
