Profile scraper

Description

Processing unit on edgebanders for the removal of tool marks at glued-on PVC lipping.

When flush milling and moulding, the knives of the milling tools leave fine unevenness on the edge surface (tool marks). This visual 'defect' is removed with the profile scraper.

Construction and Operation

A cutter holder with vertical and horizontal sending rollers is floatingly suspended on a solid metal unit stand for the upper and lower edge of the workpiece. These knife holders are equipped with profiled interchangeable knives, the scraper blades. The knife holders with the scraper blades can be fed to the workpiece edge via feed devices with digital counters.

With the help of the sensing rollers, the knife holders guide the scraper blades over the workpiece edges so that a fine chip is lifted off, comparable to finishing planing. This removes the blade chips.

Blow-off nozzles help to feed the plastic chips to the extraction system. Without these nozzles, there is a risk of chips getting between the workpiece and the tracing roller, which would briefly lift the scraper.

On CNC machining centres with edge banding unit, edge finishing is carried out with interchangeable profile scraper units.

Options

  • Pneumatic jump-in control from the console (aggregates controlled)
  • Multi-profile scraper: The scraper blade is provided with several profiles, such as chamfer, radius 2 mm and radius 3 mm. With an adjustment device the right profile is taken for the different workpieces (multi-stage technique).
