Cross-belts

Sanding belts, which grind diagonal to the feed direction of the workpiece, always in connection with a sanding pad and often with a chevron belt between sanding pad and sanding belt. The counterpart is the commonly used lengthwise sanding aggregate, where the sanding belt runs parallel to the feed direction of the workpiece.

Advantages

  • The surface is sanded completely uniform, the softer spring wood will not be ground out more than the harder late wood.
  • Fibers are sheared off and not only bend over.
  • Glue penetrations, paper tapes and hot melt glues are evenly distributed on the cross-belt and protect the expensive wide belts.

Applications

Frequently, two cross sanding units are inserted into one machine:

  • crosswise/lengthwise/lengthwise/crosswise as universal machine
  • crosswise/lengthwise/crosswise/lengthwise for the MDF-workpiece's preparation before the coating with foil
  • crosswise/crosswise/lengthwise/lengthwise

Alternative terms

  • Cross-sanding
  • Cross-sanding aggregate
  • Cross sanding unit
  • Cross-sanding element
