The particularity of the planing knife head by Leitz is the construction method: instead of a planing knife, single carbide tipped cutters are spirally screwed together with the supporting body. A similar system is offered by FELDER with its Silent-POWER system.

Advantages

• less noisy than usual planing knife systems
• energy efficient because of constant but less strong cutting power
• if damage occurs only the affected carbide tipped cutter has to be removed or turned

Usage

This system is applicable for the processing with high cutting depths (rough planing) or in connection with a following sanding process for finishing. As workpiece it is possible to process softwood as well as hardwood.
