Vacuum lifter

Devices and systems for the transportation of workpieces with a level surface that is only slightly permeable or impermeable.

In wood processing vacuum lifters are used in the field of production (handling, loading, destacking of e.g. panels or boards) and in the packaging/picking sector. The fundamental advantages of use lie in the simplification of work as well as the reduction in the personnel required, usually to one person.

The majority of vacuum lifters are designed for the lifting, moving and setting down of just one workpiece (on top of the stack) or the top workpiece layer, e.g. a stack of boards.

The main components of vacuum lifters are:

  • Crane system or tilting crane
  • Device for generating the lifting movement (lifting gear, chain hoist, vacuum hose)
  • Rotary and / or tilting device
  • Vacuum pump
  • Workpiece retainer with suction elements
  • Controls

Selection criteria incl.

  • Requisite working range (traversing range, stroke)
  • Tiltable nature of the workpiece (horizontal/ vertical)
  • Carrying capacity
