Vacuum pressing

Summary of presses, that realize the pressing power only by using a vacuum.

Applications

  • application of thermoplastic foils, veneer or laminates
  • production of free-form parts made out of wood, derived timber products or plastic materials

Technical principle

The coating material is pressed on the work piece surface by the generation of a vacuum between the support surface and the membrane. Some machines allow the heating of the work piece or the membrane.

In contrast to the membrane presses the maximum pressing power is technologically limited to 1 bar (equates to about 1 kg/cm²). However, the maximum work piece height is significantly higher (up to 600 mm) than the typical max. heigth on membrane presses.
