AUTODESK AUTOCAD

Widespread CAD-Software by AutoDesk for the creation of vector-based technical 2D- and 3D-drawings. Elements can be added by mouse or keypad commands. An own programming language and several other interfaces allow the creation and integration of individual functions and macros.

The software is specialized on the creation of drawings and models, in comparison to CAM- or WOP-Software the contours can't be connected with machining tools.

Apart from the standard-version there is a cost-effective light-version for 2D-drawings available (AutoCAD LT), aswell as noumerous sector specific add-ons.

Interfaces

The file-format .dxf was developed by Autodesk as a exchange-protocol for AutoCAD and over time developed into a quasi-standard. Most CAM-software and CNC-machining centres can handle these drawings.
