IMA AEK

The abbreviation AEK stands for "automatic adjustable combination unit".

This is a patented changeable unit for edge finishing on CNC machining centres with an edge gluing unit.

The aggregate is equipped with a combined tool for scraper- and radius milling.

Originally, the AEK aggregate 2013 was developed in order to be able to apply almost seamless high-gloss edges on CNC-machining centres in combination with laser edging and a buffing unit. In order to achieve the best possible processing quality, the aggregate was able to measure the real edge thickness and, if necessary, make subsequent corrections via a servo-controlled keying.

Later this function was extended to the possibility, multi profile tool to be installed. The servo control can now be used to adjust the keying to each individual profile.

This extended the application range of IMA AEK aggregates enormously, as practically every CNC machining centre with edge banding technology can benefit from this technology. Even when using several different profile types, it is possible to get by with only one single finishing unit.

With conventional technology with single profile and single aggregates, four aggregates are already required for two different radii (scraper and milling for the corresponding radius).
