Term used in the SCM group for a separate a-axis. Tilting-axes were particularly used in the 1990s, for machines without c-axis, to mill unilaterally curved surfaces (e.g. backs of chairs). With the launch of inexpensive 5-axis machines in the 2000s this concept lost its importance.
