Batch size 1

Order-related single-part production (also called quantity 1 production) on an industrial scale, without additional setup times, usually in through-feed or interlinked production.

In the ideal case, this is a connection of the entire production chain from storage, handling, transport, processing to packaging/, picking of workpieces.

Cut

The panels are already cut by the production control system, which specifies the dimensions, decorations etc. of the individual panels on a commission basis and labels them after cutting. The automatic panel storage system can also prepare the order-related stack of panels for cutting outside working hours.

The panel cutting can be carried out by means of a cutting machine equipped for batch size 1. Beamsaw or with a CNC machining centre which is suited for nesting.

Nesting

The advantage of the beamsaw is the significantly higher capacity in the division. The advantage of a nesting CNC is that even non-rectangular workpieces are completely formatted and the entire vertical processing of the individual workpieces is done together with the division of the panel.

Edge Processing

The edging of the individual panels is just as flexible. The edgebander reacts with an upstream scanner to the label of the individual panels and adjusts each necessary aggregate within the cycle time.

Advantages:

  • Exceptionally high flexibility with a large number of variants despite industrial production methods.
  • Minimum setup times for product changes
  • Considerable savings in personnel costs
  • Transparency of production routes and deadlines through central database

Disadvantages:

  • Cost-intensive
  • Not for series or mass production, as production routes are often longer and the capacities of the individual machines are comparatively low.
