Time for setting up

Term defining the time needed to prepare a certain order.

Tools, aggregates, feeding and other parameters are set for the manufacturing product during set-up time.

In recent years, key topics such as "flexibilty" and "small batch sizes" have come into focus, which leads to an increasing significance of short set-up times. There are, for example, automatic, computer-controlled adjustable axes, allowing an enormous reduction of set-up times. More examples for time-savers are purely mecanical scoring and other aids and appliances.

Examples for set-up time reduction

on edge banding machines

HOMAG : adjustment in the gap
IMA : automation package for small batch production

On multi-blade circular saws

Raimann: quickfix quick-tool-change system

On panel sizing plants

HOLZMA: camera-controlled pre-scoring adjustment, Power-Loc

On carcass clamps

Continous presses with pressing units which are able to preset and to adapt to the next work piece. The main dimensions (length and height) are scanned during the inlet of the carcass and allow the automatic positioning of the upper-pressure as well as of the lateral pressure elements. Applied, for example, on Ligmatech MDE 110
