HOMAG airTec

Technical method for processing laser edges (co-extruded or pre-coated edge) to produce an optical zero joint.

Technical method

  • activation by means of hot compressed air
  • heated compressed air blows a few centimeters in front of the pressure zone from a slot nozzle directly onto the back of the lipping

airTec activation unit

The activation unit consists of the following components.

  • airTec aggregate:
  • for melting the edge activation layer
  • edge height adjustment
  • Basic machine:
  • top pressure belt ground
  • top pressure mounted floating
  • cooling chain track head
  • depending on equipment ->processing either with EVA/PU glue or airTec
  • conversion from airTec to PU/EVA manual
  • Machining parameters:
  • max. 40 mm workpiece thickness at feedrate 15 m/min
  • max. 38 mm workpiece thickness at feedrate 20 m/min
  • max. 19 mm workpiece thickness at feedrate 25 m/min
  • min. 1 mm edge thickness roll
  • max. 3 mm edge thickness roll
  • max. 60 mm workpiece thickness in combination with hot melt adhesive
  • max. activation temperature in connection with PUR edges 450°C

Notes

  • designed for straight workpiece edges, no softforming
  • processing of strip material and solid strips with airTec is not possible
  • required pressure in supply line min. 7 bar
  • in connection with airTec, an edge protrusion of 30 mm at the front edge and 30 mm at the rear edge is necessary, even if the edge feed is accurate to position.
  • a jointing unit is required for the jointing cut.
  • for airTec, a continuous air volume of 1500 Nl/min must be provided.
