Operating hours counterOperation hours counters are being used in machines to determine the time of which machine was in operation. Reasons for using an operating hours counter can vary, e.g. for estimation of the wear and tear of a machine, control of the operating hours for the manufacturer´s guarantee dependent on the application time, up to business assessment of the application times and costs of the machines. The display of different operating hours counter is not always comparable, because they possibly count different times, e.g.:
Therefore the operating hours counter of different machines with the same operation time may possibly deliver different results. Modern software-based operating hours counter goes beyond the pure capturing of operating hours. So lineal metre, quantity of processed workpieces, occupancy statistics, repair time, down time of activated control and many more parameters of statistics can be captured. Software counters will often be used for displaying service- and maintenance intervals. Software operating hours counters, however, tend to be less safe concerning manipulation. Some manufacturers set up the counter in such way, that it can be set back by the operator at any given moment. Here, the main purpose in statistic collection and evaluation of operational data of machines is the process optimization. see also: operating hours |
