Briquetting press

Machine for pressing wood chips and chops in briquet shape for reducing the volume and simplifying the handling and storage.

Wood briquetting

The processed materials are wood chips with a humidity of at least 6 %, which are produced by woodworking in industries and crafts companies. Because of the pressing power, the chips are heated. The high temperature causes the wood chemical compound called lignin to cross-link three-dimensionally. Therefore, the wood briquette remains its block or cylindrical shape after leaving the briquette press.

Some presses produce briquetts with a through hole, in order to improve the burning properties.

Properties of wood briquettes

  • Moisture content below 10 % (wood stored for two years at least 20 %)
  • Calorific value >5,0 kWh/kg (five times higher than stored wood)
