Premelting unit

Premelt-adhesive systems consist of a storage tank, a granulate tank for premelting and a small glue pot. In the tank for premelting, glue granules are melted under low heat so that it liquefies and runs into the glue pot. In the glue pot, the glue is heated to its final temperature and is led on to the glue roller by a conveyor device. A level sensor ensures that only the required amount of glue is melted.

Advantages

  • More economical in consumption of glue as glue pots
  • Short warm-up time
  • Less energy intensive than glue pots
  • Quick color change by changing the glue pot and granule discharge are possible
  • Premelt-adhesive systems are offered by all major machine manufacturers, often under the 'Quickmelt', originally used by Brandt.

Disadvantages

  • Not quite closed gluing system, because the liquid glue gets in contact with air during the transition from the tank for premelting to the glue pot. Thus, the use of PUR glue is limited.
