Banana effect

The term banana effect describes a natural swinging/ bending of solid wood or panel materials.

In solid wood areas, the natural cause can also be a fibre twist in the tree.

Usually these 3 parameters cause the banana effect:

  • False storage
  • Temperature
  • Air humidity

The consequences of the banana effect are difficulties with the further processing. It's essentially more elaborate to process bent panels. For a lot of workpieces it's better to not use panels at all which have been pre-bent.
