Ultrasonic press

Pressing machine, which shortens the adhesive-drying time through ultra sound.

Technology for accelorating the setting process

In the course of the advanced mechanization of the wood-processing industry, solutions to shorten the tact time of the different pressing machines are constantly sought after. The most common solution is the acceleration of the setting process through warmth supply, as done with veneer presses and throughput-gluing presses. The application of micro wave radiation (high-frequency press) is a common practice in this industry as well.

Application of ultrasound waves

The application of ultrasound waves for accelerating setting processes is lesser known.

The institute for wood technology Dresden (IHD) has developed a practice together with the machine manufacturer MINDA where ultrasound waves are employed in a lamella press. The practice has been testes successfully on the wood types of pine and oak under usage of EVA and EPI connected adhesive.

Further information for the research project are uploaded documents (German) which are available for downloading.
