Edge gluing unit

A secial equipment feature is edgebanding machines on CNC-machining centres. Even if it's a comparably cost-intensive extra, the purchase may turn out quite rewarding in the long run, as long as many moldings are produced. For a more cost-effective alternative only machines come into question where the workpiece of edge gluing part are moved manually. This technology requires experienced operators and high personnel cost.

Other automatic variations such as CNC-controlled throughput machines or robots are more expensive than additional costs for the most edge gluing units.

Either as switch device...

With edgebanding units there's a multitude of different editions and variations. As switching unit in the simplest edition the costs are partially lower than for a manual edgebanding unit with moulding parts. The unit can be parked in the tool changer.

But one has to consider that with simpler and more cost-effective editions the edge material is already coarsly cut and manually put into the edge unit during processing. Here it's worth the surcharge for an automatic edge feed with separate packing station for the unit, as this way a fully-automatic working process is ensured.

... or firmly installed

If machine-hour rates are anticipated and tool changing times determin the economic efficiency, then one should consider using firmly installed edgebanding machines. Those are being offered by most of the notable manufacturers. The costs are higher than with exchangable units but those units have an own Y-axis and an own edgemagazine in command and are without additional changer immediately available.

In recent years further innovations such as adhesive parts for PUR glues or adhesive parts for „laser edges“ have been introduced on the market. For the economic use of such units practically the same things need to be considered as with edgebanding machines, which is why there're no further things worth mentioning.
