The KW 12 compact- milling unit by HOMAG especially comes into use in the formatting zone of industrial edgebanding machines and edge processing lines as premilling unit. It's especially used on double end tenoners when fine milling plastic-coated panels and with transversal profiling of solid wood panels.

Construction and function

The unit consits of a support with two milling spindles which have their own drive motor. Each milling spindle can be moved electro-pneumatically onto the machining line. The first motor cuts in the up-cut and pans away before the end part of the workpiece. The second motor engages in the down-cut. A splintering of the workpiece at the touchdown point of the milling tool can thus be prevented.

The support can be tilted up to 90° against the processing line and thus offers more design possibilites in the edge area.
