The radio measuring clamp is used to facilitate the entry of the workpiece thickness on wide belt sanders. With its help, the machine operator measures the thickness of the unsanded workpiece. The measurement is transmitted to the machine control via radio link. The manufacturers SCM and HOMAG currently offer such measuring systems for their machines. Their measuring clamps not only determine the workpiece thickness but also allow existing grinding programmes to be called up.

Alternatively, the workpiece thickness can also be measured by means of a scanning unit in the area of the workpiece infeed through the machine.
