HOMAG WOODWOP

WoodWOP is a workshop-oriented programming system for CNC machines of the Homag group. It was initially used to create machining programmes directly on the machine. In the course of time, the range of functions has steadily expanded and it has also found its way into work preparation. As early as the beginning of the 1990s, the HOMAG Group started to develop its own programming system woodWOP.

Previously, CNC machines were programmed directly in DIN code, often at separate office workstations or even by external programmers. Programming asymmetrical workpieces in DIN code was very complex. In addition, these workpieces required a lot of process engineering know-how, which was usually only possessed by the machine operator.

Often, even after test runs, subsequent optimisation of the code was necessary. That is why the programming in WOP systems was initially brought back from the office to the machine, i.e. it became "workshop-oriented" - hence the eponymous term, although from the mid-2000s onwards the programming was mostly carried out separately again in the work preparation department.
