IMA BIMA 310

Short description

CNC-machining centre, which was introduced by IMA in 1998 as successor of the BIMA QUADROFORM, offered on the market in several modified versions and replaced by the model BIMA 300 in 2007.

In 1998

the previous model QUADROFORM was brought to the market with a slightly enlarged working range under the name BIMA 310. Optics and equipment were nearly identical.

The machine had an aggregates support with 7.5 kW working spindle and C-axis as well as a drilling unit with 12 vertical drilling spindles. Even the ride-along pickup tool changer in X, which was mounted on the front, was adopted without any changes. The working range was enlarged to 3.000 (X) x 1.000 mm (Y).

In 2001

the model series 310 was revised, and technology and optics have been significantly changed:

  • the Y-axis was extended to 1.200 mm
  • the X-axis was available in the lengths 3.000 and 4.000 mm
  • In its basic configuration, the machine had a working spindle with 7.5 kW, C-axis as well as an 18-fold disc tool changer. The pickup changer mounted on the front completely fell away.
  • the drilling unit was extended to 14 drills in the basic version

Options

The available options were extended:

  • Now, up to 12 horizontal drills on the drill head were available.
  • There was the choice of a second vertical drilling aggregate with 21 spindles.
  • There was the possibility of an upgrade with a groove saw swivelable by 90 degrees,
  • Second router head with 4.4 kW
  • Help for positioning of vacuum cups based on LED light strips, for the proper positioning of the suction cups.

In 2002

there was another complete revision of the model series 310, which was now sold under the name BIMA 310 Expert and was, for the first time, also available with an edgebanding aggregate. Therefore, the model BIMA 310 Expert existed in 2 basic configurations:

BIMA 310 Expert as machining center with 1 Y-axis
BIMA 310 V Expert with 2 Y-axes, one of which was available for an edgebanding aggregate.

Except for the Y-axis, both models were identical. In the basic configuration, the machine had a working spindle with 7.5 kW, a C-axis and an 18-fold disc tool changer and 14 vertical drills.

Options

  • 12 kW working spindle
  • 21 vertical drills
  • additional groove saw swivelable by 90 degrees
  • 2nd router head with 4.4 kW
  • LED positioning aid

The machine was now available in 4 different working lengths:

  • 3.000 mm
  • 4.000 mm
  • 5.000 mm
  • 6.000 mm

The working range in Y was 1.200 mm.

In 2007

the series BIMA 310 was replaced by the series BIMA 300.
