Edge sanding aggregate
Processing unit at machines that process the edges of panels, for example edgebanders, edge sanding machines, profile sanding machines and double end tenoners. They are both used for smoothing the panel edge and smoothing the surfaces of the glued solid wood lippings and veneer edges.
Usually furniture panels with solid wood lippings get a surface treatment after edgebanding. Before this process the edges have to be sanded, to prevent an erection of the fiber by swelling at moisture absorption. At non profiled or edges with chamfer only, at first the egde sanding is done.

Edge sanding units on the Edgebanders operate in belt grinding principle: A Sanding belt circulates two guide rollers and a large drive roller. The guide rollers are faced to the workpiece edge. Between the guide rollers is a sanding pad, which is pressed pneumatically or mechanically from the back side onto the sanding belt at the to be processed workpiece edge. The pad surface is usually made of felt. The band tension between the guide rollers and a drive roller is generated pneumatically. Usually straight grinding units are not tiltable.
The edges of non-profiled Massivholzanleimern get usually a chamfer or radius. Therefore after straight sanding follows the chamfer station or radius station. Both types can be done with the same unit.
Construction chamfer radius sanding unit
Chamfer radius-sanding units operate on the principle of belt sanding. One aggregat sands the top and another the bottom side of the edge. Therefore a small sanding belt can be used. In contrast to straight sanding units, this units are tiltable. A chamfer can be sanded by using a straight sanding pad and tilting the units. For sanding rounded edges profiled sanding pads are used.
Profiled edges are sanded with profile sanding units. There are basically two different types of profile sanding units.
This essentially consists of a driven spindle and a sanding disc installed on it. The sanding disc is purpose built for one profil. The initial investment is low. But the high costs for the sanding discs are inacceptable for bigger factories.
Sanding Unit belt sanding with Profile pad
The structure is similar to the chamfer radius sanding unit, but instead of the straight a profiled sanding pad is used. The initial investment in machinery and pad are in this unit compared to the abrasive aggregate higher, but at high volume sanding it worths because of the lower sanding belt costs.
