Basically, it is complex manufacturing systems consisting of at least two parts; one machine for transversal processing and a second machine for lengthwise processing which is arranged at an angle of 90° to the first machine.

Combination of a lengthwise and a cross cut saw; thus has at least two cut lines, which are arranged at an angle of 90°. Cutting angle plants are used where single panels or panel packages, particularly in mass production, have to be divided efficiently and with high precision. The main advantage compared to panel saws, which are used in the crafts and small-series sector, is the production-technological separation of lengthwise splitting (cutting of strips/strands) and the immediately following cross cut (splitting of the strands) in a second machine. Angle plants usually have an automatic panel feed (automatic loading) and they are organizationally integrated into complex software network solutions.

So-called double end tenoners, which are arranged at an angle of 90° and connected to each other by appropriate transportation technology with angular tranfer, are used. Thus, all four sides of a workpiece can be processed in a single pass. Type, number and configuration of the aggregates and the type of the transportation system are dependent on the workpiece and other production requirements, and thus are individually determined.
Four-sided formatting and edgebanding in one through-feed. If the edgebanding is combined with machines for the application of edge material, one talks about edge processing lines, which can also be used in form of an angle plant. Depending on local conditions/space availability, a double-sided edgebanding machine (possibly with format part) and a following angular transfer device to the second double-sided machine is designed for four-sided edge processing. Plants without angular transfer devices are arranged in one line. A turning device, arranged between the two machines, turns the workpieces before the second machine. Thus, all four sides can be processed in one through-feed.
