The term passage height refers to the maximum workpiece thickness at which the untreated workpiece can run through the machine with all its processing units. Depending on the machine type, the passage height is limited by different constructive features.

Wide belt sanders

  • On machines with a lifting table, the passage height is limited by the maximum table hoisting capacity that is possible.
  • On machines with machine head adjustment, the passage height is limited by the maximum hoisting capacity of the machine head with the sanding aggregates that is possible.

Band saws

Here, the term passage height refers to the maximum permitted height of a workpiece to be sawed. The height (measured in mm) is defined as the distance between machine table and the upper exit point of the saw band on the machine frame. Since the machine frame is fixed and the height of the machine table can also not be mechanically changed, the workpiece height has to be below this value. Otherwise, processing is not possible.
