The Morbidelli Universal X5 series has been introduced in 2010 as successing model of the previous model series MORBIDELLI AUTHOR X 5. The Universal X5 has exclusively been available as 5-axis machine.

People could choose between pod and rail table and matrix table.

The most important innovation has been a front support, which is why the universal models have been designed as moving gantry machine, but only driven on one side - as opposed to the pure cantilever machine author.

The previous categorisation persist in a small version (formerly X5, now X5 HD) and a wide version (formerly X 5 EVO, now X5 HDL)

The table width (Y) of the HD variation were 1350 mm, the one of the HDL 1600 mm.

Both versions ere available in several table lengths (X):

HD 31 (only available as HD): 3117 mm

HD/HDL 36: 3548 mm

HD/HDL 45: 4469 mm

HD/HDL 65: 6469 mm

For the equipment of the unit carrier a selection could be made out of several, hand-picked drilling heads.

The PRISMA K with 11 kW has only been available as milling spindle.

Some RAPID, and Tool Room and TR models were respectively available as tool changing unit.
