Opening width mm

Similarly to the opening height we understand the opening width to be the maximum width of the workpiece, whereby it can be fed through the machine in an unprocessed condition together with its processing units. Depending on the machine type, the opening width is limited by various design features. Band sawsWith band saws without mechanically powered feed rollers on the machine table, we define the opening width as the distance between the machine frame or the stop located here and the saw blade. No stop is located beyond the saw blade, as can be seen in the top right illustration. This type of band saw therefore has no opening width restriction. In the case of band saws with powered feed rollers, i.e. resaws, the opening width is limited by the feed rollers on the left and right of the saw band.
