Tracing rollers are vertical and horizontal metal plates in edgebanders, which guide the processing units on the workpiece surface.

Panel materials have little tolerances in shape and thickness, i.e. they are not always perfectly straight and rarely perfectly plane. In order to able to copy these tolerances onto the glued edge material, the processing unit are suspended floating. The tracing rollers transmit all vertical and horizontal irregularities to the aggregate and thus, provide for flush and evenly profiled edges.
