Condition of the matrix table

You see the entry in

For nesting applications, CNC machining centres with special nesting equipment are used. Usually these machines have a matrix table.

Damage to matrix tables

Partial burns

  • Influence can have:
  • impermissibly high flow speeds due to significantly too high, possibly post-installed vacuum power,
  • frequent and intensive milling work at the same point on the table in connection with very low feed and blunt tools

Due to these influences, among others, very high heat development occurs in places during milling

High suction power of the vacuum generator in combination with thin protection board and igniting dusts lead to such high temperatures between the grid table and the sacrificial plate that plastic matrix tables can partially burn

  • Signs:
  • Smell of burnt plastic because the smoke is sucked in by the vacuum pump and distributed in the working area
  • Soot deposits in the suction hose, filter and air outlet of the vacuum pump
  • Remedy: adequate feed, sharp tools
  • Burnt areas are not repairable

Milled holes

Incorrect setting tool (especially working depth) will not only chip the workpiecethrough, but also the Protection board as well as the matrix table lying(aluminium or plastic). The result is sometimes deep contour in the table surface.
