With the help of multi-level technology on Edgebanders it is possible to process different edge profiles without tool change. This is realized through tools, which contain the desired profiles in steps and pneumatic cylinder or NC controlled actuator, which position the tool corresponding the profile steps.

The multi-level technology is used in the following edge processing units:

• Precision milling unit, radius milling units, chamfering aggregates (flush/radius/chamfering stations)
• Corner rounding units
• Profile scraper aggregates

While the manufacturer Homag makes a distinction between multi-level technology and multi-functional aggregates, other manufacturers mix the terms for multi-stage tool and several functions in one aggregate.
