Machines for the processing of double-sided workpieces, especially for profiling the edges of workpieces (postforming profiles, groove-tongue-connections for flooring and parquet as well as for tenoning with greater chip removal (slot- mortise joint for window and door profiles). Structure
1. Machine bedThe machine bed consists normally of hollow steel tubes, which have been welded together in a rectangle shape. On those hollow steel tubes, which lie perpendicular to the feeding direction, the rails of the machine sides are mounted. 2. Machine sidesThe machine sides consist normally of one hollow steel tube on each side with the attachments for the guides of the machine bed for the adjustment of the widths. On these frames the aggregate holders are fitted. In order to reduce vibrations these are preferable made out of cast iron steel. The number of the aggregateholders limits the possible number of processing aggregates. Usually each aggregate holder can carry 2 aggregates. Sound enclosures are also attached to the machine sides. 3. Chain conveyorsThese are attached to the aggregate-holders. In the front and at the back of a rib-stiffened hollow steel tube big gear-wheels are mounted, which force the chain conveyer in its circled trace. Each side drives one of the two gear-wheels of the chain. In order to run the left and the right chain synchronic, the driven gear-wheels are connected with profiled round bars. The chain conveyer runs on the hollow steel tube on a round and a flat guide. Attached to the chain links are plastic plates with rubber pads. Some of the chain links have holes for dogs. The function of these dogs is to prevent the sliding of the workpiece lengthwise towards the feeding direction and also a parallel alignment of the workpiece edges in relation to the processing aggregates. Depending on the level of automation, these dogs can either be manually or electronically driven (controlled dogs). 4. Top pressureThe Top pressure is also attached to the aggregate-holders via vertical threading spindles and guides. It consists out of a screwed hollow steel tube, in which the pressure rolls are vertically attached. These rolls press by spring or pneumatic power a rotating rubber band from the top against the workpiece, so that this will be securely attached between the feeding chain and the top pressure. unitsThere are divers kind of aggregates which could be used in a double end tenoner:
Additional facilities
ApplicationsThere are four main applications, which will determine the constructive characteristics in the configuration with units of a double end tenoner:
